The company was founded by Lyn Bookless in 1989, the same year the Berlin Wall fell and the Nintendo Game Boy was launched. Lyn began sketching floor plans solo the old-fashioned way, with a tape measure, pencil and sketch pad, and as her business grew she took on local freelance planners. By 2000, business was booming: Lyn’s husband Alan joined the company to help manage operations, and the company moved into its first office, a converted potting shed at the bottom of the garden.
In 2000, Alan hired undergraduate Owen Turgoose, who worked as a freelance floor planner whilst completing his engineering degree at Kingston University. After graduation, Owen stayed with the company and took on the London franchise until this was merged with the main business to form Floorplanz Ltd at the beginning of 2007. In 2010 Owen was appointed MD and took over the day-to-day running of the business, becoming CEO and majority shareholder upon Lyn and Alan’s retirement in early 2017. 30 years on and Floorplanz has evolved into a national, multi-disciplined property marketing company, a market leader and innovator within our sector, supplying services to many of the UK’s most well-known and respected property professionals.
We offer so much more than floor plans and therefore in 2018 we started the search for a new brand to serve us for the next 30 years and beyond. Fourwalls was the popular choice within the company and was launched to the market in January 2019.
Fourwalls has been 30 years in the making but with so many exciting projects in the pipeline and such a fantastic team of individuals working for the business this is only the start of the story and there are many more chapters to follow.
